Latest Updates from Our Project:

New Stretch Goal: Patron of Letters
about 6 years ago – Wed, Apr 25, 2018 at 02:59:40 PM

Are You a Literary Benefactor?

With the Wizard's Tower claimed, our next stretch goal is revealed: the next exclusive reward level, unlocked at $35,000, will invite four generous supporters to become Patrons of Letters:

In addition to The Beloved Edition, at this level you will have the opportunity to commission one piece of short fiction from blush-inducing fic author Alex Roberts. Submit your Star Crossed pairing, from your own imagination or from a fandom you love, and Alex will weave a tale of forbidden, and possibly doomed, attraction. Like the game itself, you won't quite know how it will end.

(We'll deliver a PDF of approximately 500 words; Alex reserves the right to decline a pairing if it squicks her out.)

These commissions can be kept private or made public, at our patron's discretion. As the one who will (hopefully!) be writing these, I honestly don't know which would be better? And I'm excited as heck to hear what pairings people request - the last time I took a commission it was Niles Crane / Starscream the Decepticon and it turned out so cute.

Speaking of Cute Pairings:

Jess Fink's art continues to delight. Here's the latest piece; what do you think?

Reminder: Ask Me Anything Friday!

We'll be hosting our AMA Friday, 04/27, starting at 10am EST. Can't wait to hear from everyone and have a lovely chat.

Talk to you then!

Star Crossed Twitch Archive

Our game last night was amazing. The chat was alive with suggestions (and, by the final scene, plaintive demands) which were helpful and hilarious in turn, the whole ONE SHOT team are pros, and I got to eat the tall pizza. Chicago rules and so do you, backers. If you missed it, click here to watch the archived video:

Yes, a tower really can go that high.

An extra special welcome to all the backers that joined us during the stream! That was a pretty cool thing to see! <3

So Close to that Goal! And so much to listen to.

Star Crossed on ONE SHOT!

An alien scientist studying earth as part of an effort to initiate first contact with humanity. Unfortunately for her she’s not a diplomat, and welcoming a new species into the cosmos is daunting work. Things start to get way out of hand when the humans assign a psychologist to work with her after they notice she is stressed.

Alex and host James D'Amato torment each other for an hour of must-listen audio this week on the ONE SHOT podcast. This is a taste of what you're in for, dear reader:

We're on Twitch tonight!

I'll also be playing Star Crossed tonight at 8pm CST on twitch.tv/oneshotrpg. We'll be generating the whole setting and relationship on-air, and I promise a non-zero chance it will not involve space, somehow! (Guys I'm gonna try my best.)

1000 Backers!

Thank you, all 1,012 of you! Thinking about a thousand people having fun with my game makes my head spin, but I'm doing it anyway. You are all amazing <3

I hope to unveil another important milestone soon - after Rachel's WIZARD TOWER is unleashed, there are so many delights yet to come. Let's get there!

NEW STRETCH GOAL: THE WIZARD'S TOWER
about 6 years ago – Fri, Apr 20, 2018 at 02:32:29 PM

Star Crossed Story Time Unlocked!

Thank you, everyone, for bringing us to $30,000! What a mind-blowing amount of support. Jeez. I am so excited to share Star Crossed stories with you, and I know my guests will be too. Look for the mini-series on the Backstory podcast feed, starting this Tuesday!

STRETCH GOAL 2: THE WIZARD'S TOWER

Rachel Kahn, the rad artist behind By Crom!, Pocket Dungeons, and other cromulent works, is joining us for something truly unique:

If we reach $32,500 Rachel Kahn will offer an exclusive reward: the full Star Crossed boxed set, with an additional one-of-a-kind, hand painted tower you'll be proud to play with and display.

Rachel has already put together a quick sketch of what the painted side of the tower will look like. Check this out, friends:

Concept mockup only. Your final product will be even lovelier.

Fans of Rachel's warm, grounded style will be pretty hype about this one. And it'll be up as soon as we hit that $32,500 mark, so keep your eyes on the total! We can't wait to see this tower.

Speaking of Hype,

The latest episode of the Get Hype podcast is all about Star Crossed! We have to agree with hosts Aly and Mel, and their special guest James, that our game of bittersweet romance is something to gush over.

(Alex was on the show not too long ago too... she talked about hot chocolate.)

BTW, AMA!

I'm going to be on reddit dishing answers to all things design, play, romance, safety, writing, larping, and Star Crossed! And more? Probably! I'm pretty excited to do this. Spread the word and join me on April 27th, 2018!

See you then!

New Review, Old Interview, and Eternal Thank You
about 6 years ago – Thu, Apr 19, 2018 at 12:47:46 PM

Fandible Review

We just read the nicest review on Fandible.com"I'm excited to add Star Crossed to our library, and I look forward to a chance for us to play it soon!" Thank you, Angela! You can read her concise and insightful review here.

If you see reviews and responses cropping up, share them here or on Twitter! We'll be delighted to read what folks are saying about Star Crossed.

From the Archives

Want to hear the first interview about Star Crossed? Back when it was still being developed under the name Tension? Check out this episode of the brilliant interview show Modifier, hosted by my ONE SHOT Network pal Meghan Dornbrock! We talk about the origins of the game and its (at the time) ongoing development. It's a nuts-and-bolts design-focused interview (Meghan's specialty) but I can't help but wax poetic at a few points.

Star Crossed on ONE SHOT

Speaking of my dear podcast network, I'll be on the ONE SHOT Podcast playing Star Crossed on Monday, April 23rd. We recorded yesterday, and, without giving too much away... what we say in the beginning about trying not to do a sci-fi story may not have worked out.

I'll also be on their Twitch channel that evening, 8PM CST, playing again for a live internet audience! Good thing this game doesn't involve feeling nervous or self-conscious or anything!!! We'll see how long that tower lasts.

Thank You <3

Thank you to everyone who has been posting, sharing, tweeting, re-tweeting, and talking about the game. You've made our ongoing success possible! We're only a week in, our first stretch goal is (hopefully) right around the corner, and we have so much more in store for you. Star Crossed Story Time is going to be so rad! Can't wait to share it.
